We propose a relativistic model for strange quark stars within the framework of MIT Bag model. We discuss various physical features of the model and show that the model satisfies all the regularity conditions. We estimate the value of the Bag constant for strange star candidates like 4U 1820-30, Her X-1, SAX J 1808.4-3658(SS1) and SAX J 1808.4-3658(SS2), however, for the strange star-4U 1820-30, our estimated value of Bag constant is very close to accepted values. We have assumed the highly compact strange stars are anisotropic since recent observations on highly compact astrophysical objects indicate that the densities of such objects are normally beyond nuclear matter density and the pressures within such stars are anisotropic. We have shown that the constraint on the maximum allowed mass-radius ratio falls within the range of the isotropic fluid sphere, i.e., $\frac{mass}{radius} < 4/9$. We have also calculated the maximum surface redshift for the anisotropic stars.
